There is so much to think about when you’re having your personal brand shoot, and something right at the top of my list would be how to style yourself for a personal brand shoot.
This is something you’ll want to get right as you don’t want to look back on the shoot regretting what you wore, and feeling like your brand isn’t being represented how you’d like.
So, I’m going to go over my tips and tricks to make sure you look back at your personal brand shoot, loving how you looked!
When thinking about what to wear for your personal brand shoot, the first thing I want to talk about is colours.
Firstly, look at your brand kit and see if there are any brand colours you can incorporate within your outfit to make that connection between you and the brand.
I always recommend sticking to solid colours (of course, unless patterns are YOUR thing) as this photographs and ages well.
If you’re unsure what colours to wear, neutrals are always a safe option, they look good, suit everyone, and they age well.
If you’re looking for something bold, adding a bright colour blazer to a simple look is such a good way to get that pop of colour for your personal brand shoot!
Just like when you’re going out for the evening with your friends, you have a date night etc, you want to have options in case something goes wrong with your original outfits, the same goes for your personal brand shoot!
Bring along 3-4 different outfits to your shoot, and ensure all of these are outfits you would be happy to wear.
Not only is this for emergencies or accidents, but this is also an amazing way to get the maximum amount of content possible!
By bringing different outfits, you are able to change up the looks of your personal brand shoot, meaning you’ll be able to keep the content on your channels fresh, instead of the same outfit photos for the next month!
Above everything, I want you to remember that comfort is key! The more comfortable you are, the more confident you’ll feel, and that is so important to remember when thinking about how to style yourself for a personal brand shoot. Nevertheless, here are some of my footwear recommendations.
Heels! These can take your personal brand shoots to the next level! Not only do they add an elegant, professional touch to your look, but they also elongate your legs which don’t we all want! But, do bring comfy shoes too!
Whether you’re wearing flats or heels, nudes, blacks, and whites are colours that go with everything making them the perfect footwear colour.
We all know jewellery can take your look to the next level, but it can be so easily forgotten! This is why I’m including it as an essential for how to style yourself for a personal brand shoot.
A nice pair of earrings, a necklace, some rings, or a bracelet – making sure you have these will make such a difference I promise!
If you’re unsure about what combos look good, ask friends or family, or even your photographer – like me – I am always happy to help you achieve the best look.
When in doubt, smart casual is always the answer!
Smart casual has to be up there with one of my favourite styles for personal brand shoots. It’s a style that you can usually achieve from items you already own, and it’s easy to feel comfortable in as it isn’t so dressed up, but you still look professional.
When thinking about what to wear for a personal brand shoot, unless you’re part of a fashion business where fashion trends are what is talked about, I recommend avoiding them.
I say avoid them because trends come and go, sometimes very fast. For your personal brand shoot, you want to wear something timeless such as things like monochrome, or neutrals, this way your shoot will never look ‘dated’ if you want to use to content further along in the future.
My final piece of advice for how to style yourself for a personal brand shoot is to be prepared!
By this I mean make sure all of your outfit items are washed and ironed and check for any stains, and if you want to be extra prepared, bring a steamer along to your shoot so you can take out creases from the journey.
Now you’re ready for your personal brand shoot and looking unreal, it’s time to get that smize out and make some memories!
